Job Description
What we are building at REWILD
We started REWILD Landscapes as a response to the extractive practices of the traditional landscaping industry, on both staff and environment. We aren’t a "mow and blow" company, we design and build high-end ecological landscapes across Ottawa. We rip out sterile lawns and replace them with habitats like native meadows, food forests, Miyawaki forests, waterfalls, and natural hardscapes using local materials like Quebec sandstone and cedar.
We are actively building a safe, inclusive workspace that is explicitly queer and female-friendly. Our current goal is to push the company to $1M in gross sales so we can transition into an ecologically sustainable, living-wage co-op model that offers benefits, vacation and sick pay.
I need a person who wants to help build that vision from the ground up.
What the day-to-day looks like
You will be taking the designs from paper to reality by running the site, managing the materials, and leading a small crew of labourers. I won't be micromanaging you, so you need to be comfortable speaking with clients, working independently, and confidently making decisions.
Who I am looking for
A problem solver:You have a "figure-it-out" mentality. When a massive piece of stone won't sit right or a grading issue pops up, you don't panic. You love the puzzle of it.
A natural teacher:You have a genuinely positive, jovial spirit. You’ll be managing greener staff, and I want someone who gets excited about passing their knowledge down to the next generation of ecological landscapers.
A creative builder:You have real experience in landscape construction, but you still want to get your hands dirty and grow creatively. You care about building habitats, not just pouring concrete.
The hard requirements
3+ years of experience in landscape construction (grading and patios), carpentry (pergolas and decks), and water feature installation (ponds and waterfalls).
The ability to read, interpret, and physically build out landscape designs.
A valid G Driver's License and a clean driving record
You must be on board with our inclusive culture and ecological mission.
The perks
Real 8-hour days:We work normal hours. No 12-hour grinds. No evenings and weekends.
Compensation:$30-$45.00/hr, with the ultimate goal of adding comprehensive health benefits and sick pay as we hit our revenue milestones.
Creative freedom:You get to build provincial park style aesthetics right in the middle of the city.
