Gardener

We are Hiring! We are a small garden design, installation and maintenance company with a focus on sustainability. We are women owned and operated and heading into our sixth year in business. We are looking to fill a full time position with a hardworking/enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for all things green to come grow with us, learn with us, and get a little dirt under your nails with us! We are based out of Toronto’s east end however work all over the city. We use sustainable garden practices as much as we can and are always learning and looking for new ways to better care for gardens in our ever-changing climate. Lead hand • Full time position April-Nov • Paid stat holidays • $24-$30/hr to start depending on experience. • Salary options after 1 year • Previous garden experience or horticultural training an asset • Able to identify invasive species • Have a basic knowledge of plant material and garden practices • Meet the physical demands of the position • Be able to work on your own as well as with a team • Be self motivated and reliable • Ok working on ladders • Have a valid G class Ontario Drivers licence with a clean driving record • be able to complete jobs in a timely manner with the highest attention to detail • Identify basic pest and disease issues • Follow direction and learn quickly • Posses exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills • Able to work in adverse weather conditions • Comfortable/experience driving in Toronto • Work in a tidy and orderly manner Details include but are not limited to: • Basic pruning of shrubs/vines • Weeding/deadheading • Plant/tree installation • Garden renovations • Soil amendments/application • Sod installation/removal • Seasonal urn arrangements • Tool maintenance • Basic lawn care
