In this vital role, you will be responsible for cultivating, maintaining, and caring for a diverse array of native plants within our greenhouse environment. What You’ll Do
1. Crop Production & Plant Care
*Grow container stock and cuttings to quality standards
*Monitor crop health, nutrition, and irrigation
*Scout for pests and apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices
*Apply biological controls, pesticides, and growth regulators when needed
*Ensure crops meet timing, quality, and pest tolerance targets
2. Greenhouse Operations
*Seed, water, weed, prune, and prepare crops for winter storage
*Maintain irrigation systems and report repair needs
*Label and tag plant stock accurately
*Maintain greenhouse cleanliness and perform basic maintenance
*Track crop inventory and monitor plant losses (shrinkage)
3. Team Leadership
*Coordinate daily tasks and priorities for greenhouse staff
*Communicate expectations and track work using work orders
*Provide guidance and mentorship to team members
*Help maintain a collaborative team environment
4. Orders & Customer Service
*Pick, pack, and prepare plant orders
*Support the Gift Tree program (packing and presentation)
*Help ensure orders are accurate and ready for pickup or delivery
What We’re Looking For
*2+ years greenhouse growing experience
*Education (college or university) in Horticulture or a related field (or equivalent experience)
*Knowledge of plant care, irrigation, and pest management
*Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
*Comfortable supervising staff and delegating tasks
*Able to work independently and as part of a team
*Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook; NetSuite/ADP an asset)
*Ability to lift and move plant material and work in varying weather conditions
*Valid Class G driver’s license
*Structural Pesticide License (or willingness to obtain)
*Spanish language skills an asset

$22.00 to $25.00/hour
