Nursery Technician Full-Time Seasonal (10-Month Contract) 📍 Ferguson Tree Nursery 💰 $22–$25/hour Build a Career You Can See Grow If you’re looking for steady, hands-on work where you can build practical skills, take ownership, and see real results, this role delivers. At Ferguson Tree Nursery, you’ll work across field, greenhouse, potted stock and shipping operations—helping grow and deliver native trees and plants that support forestry and sustainable landscapes. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys physical work, variety, and wants to build skills in plant production. What You’ll Do Nursery Production (Field, Greenhouse, Potted Stock & Perennials) • Support growing operations: Seed, transplant, weed, prune, and water plant material • Work with bareroot, container, potted and perennial stock • Monitor plant health and flag issues (pests, disease, irrigation, nutrition) • Assist with seed collection and processing Shipping & Operations • Lead and support shipping during peak seasons • Pick, pack, and prepare orders accurately and efficiently • Load trucks, coordinate outgoing shipments and manage plant cold storage • Maintain storage areas, inventory records, tools, and equipment Team Support & Coordination • Help coordinate tasks for seasonal crews • Provide guidance and support to team members when needed • Contribute to a safe, efficient, and team-focused work environment Additional Responsibilities • Assist across nursery operations as needed (field, greenhouse, shipping) • Complete occasional local deliveries to customers • Identify and report issues affecting crop quality or operations What We’re Looking For • 2+ years experience in nursery, farming, landscaping, or similar hands-on work • Education in Horticulture, Forestry, or Agriculture (or equivalent experience) • Strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced, physical environment • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions • Ability to lift up to 25 kg repeatedly • Able to work independently and as part of a team • Experience with shipping, yard, or warehouse operations is an asset • Equipment experience (forklift, UTV, trucks) is an asset • Knowledge of native plant species is an asset • Valid Class G driver’s license with clean abstract • Spanish language skills are an asset Compensation & Stability • $22–$25/hour based on experience • 10-month seasonal role with potential extension • Consistent hours with overtime during peak seasons • Opportunity to build skills across production, logistics, and team coordination Schedule • Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM • Spring peak: 5–6 days/week, including Saturday rotation • Hours vary based on weather and production demands How to Apply Send your resume and cover letter to: careers@fergusontreenursery.ca We thank all applicants; only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
