Job Description
The Big Picture As a Green Roof Maintenance Worker, your job is to keep rooftop gardens and plants healthy. You’ll make sure the plants are growing well, the water is flowing correctly, and the roof stays in great shape.
Main Tasks
Checkups: Regularly look over the roof to make sure the plants and the drainage system are working right.
Plant Care: Keep plants happy by watering them, feeding them (fertilizing), trimming them, and planting new ones when needed.
Cleaning: Pull out weeds and remove any trash or leaves that don't belong there.
Drain Maintenance: Make sure roof drains and pipes aren't clogged so water can flow off the roof safely.
Fixing Issues: Look for leaks or damage to the roof and tell your supervisor if something is broken.
Water Systems: Set up and fix the sprinklers or watering systems.
Dirt & Soil: Make sure there is enough soil for the plants to grow.
Seasonal Work: Get the roof ready for spring and protect everything before winter hits.
Reporting: Keep a simple log of what you did and how the roof looks.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma,
- Apprentice Level I/II,
- College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,
