Job Description

Horticulturist / Head Gardener

Woman-run landscaping company seeking a horticulturist to help shape, plant, and care for environmentally responsive gardens across the GTA.

We’re a small, collaborative studio working on both interior and exterior spaces for thoughtful homes and businesses. Our work leans ecological, design-forward, and detail-driven—we don’t mow lawns or install sod. Instead, we build layered, expressive plantings that evolve over time.

This is a hands-on role that blends garden maintenance, installation, and design collaboration. It’s for someone who wants to take ownership of gardens and contribute creatively—not just follow a task list.

What you’ll do:

Lead garden maintenance and seasonal care across multiple client sites

Build and plant imaginative, ecologically responsive planters and garden spaces

Make on-site plant decisions (placement, substitutions, adjustments as gardens evolve)

Work alongside our design team to develop and refine planting concepts

Support installation days and occasional project builds

What you bring:

Strong plant knowledge (perennials, shrubs, and containers suited to our zone)

Hands-on experience in garden maintenance and planting (2+ seasons preferred)

A thoughtful, design-aware approach to planting

Confidence working independently and as part of a small team

Comfort with physical outdoor work in varying weather

A valid driver’s license (preferred)

Details:

Starting at $27/hour+, based on experience

Part-time / seasonal (with potential for year-round work)

Based out of Etobicoke, with projects across the GTA

Work is primarily on-site, with occasional time at our HQ or working remotely depending on the week

This role has room to grow for someone interested in deepening their design voice and taking on more responsibility within a small, evolving studio.

If you’re excited by plants, collaboration, and shaping gardens over time, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send your resume and a short note about your experience to Hello@fore.garden
