Job Description

Sod Farm Operations

• Manage daily sod farm operations including planting, fertilizing, irrigation, mowing, spraying, harvesting, and field maintenance

• Operate and maintain agricultural equipment including tractors, loaders, mowers, and harvesting equipment

• Coordinate sod inventory, harvesting schedules, and customer orders

Tree Nursery Operations

• Oversee all aspects of tree nursery production, including planting, transplanting, pruning, staking, and maintenance

• Manage tree inventory, including tracking varieties, sizes, quantities, and availability

• Develop and maintain nursery production schedules to ensure healthy, market-ready trees

• Monitor tree health and identify issues related to pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress

• Manage irrigation, fertilization, weed control, and overall plant care programs

• Coordinate tree movement, digging, loading, and preparation for customer orders

• Ensure proper handling and care of trees during transplanting and delivery preparation

• Assist with selecting new tree varieties and planning future nursery production

• Maintain organized nursery rows and ensure proper spacing, labeling, and inventory accuracy

• Oversee seasonal nursery tasks including winter protection, pruning, and spring preparation

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma,
  • Apprentice Level I/II,
  • College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,
Skills & Professional Training
  • Driver's License - G
  • Skid Steer
  • Fork Lift Certificate

• Previous experience in agriculture, sod production, horticulture, nursery operations, landscaping, or a related field

• Strong knowledge of turf management, tree care, irrigation, and plant production

• Pesticide applicator certification or willingness to obtain is an asset

Compensation

$25 to $35/hour
