Job Description

The Horticulture Technician is a hands-on role responsible for the maintenance and

enhancement of gardens, as well as assisting with the installation of various landscape features.

This role involves working closely with team leaders and supervisors to ensure high-quality results, while also providing opportunities for career development and growth within the company.

Sakura Gardens is a Garden Installation & Maintenance company, focusing on opening, closing, maintaining and renovating residential gardens across Oakville, South Mississauga & Burlington. We are looking for people who have a love of gardening, don’t mind getting their hands dirty, being part of a great team and love being outside.

Key Responsibilities:

-Maintain gardens by cultivating, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and caring for a variety of plants, including perennials, shrubs, trees, and annuals.

-Assist with plant installation, including trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals, and

support hardscaping efforts like flagstone and armour stone installations.

- Load, unload, and clean job sites, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained after each use.

-Set up garden sites, performing tasks such as digging, planting, mulching, and ensuring proper soil management and irrigation.

- Operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery, including backpack blowers,

hedge trimmers, small machinery, and power tools.

-Ensure that personal and company tools are properly maintained and in good working order.

- Follow established health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment on all job sites.

- Use job management software (Jobber, LMN, etc.) for task tracking, communication with supervisors, and updating project statuses.

- Collaborate effectively with team members, taking direction from crew leaders and

supervisors to ensure high-quality work and efficient project completion.

- Team members must provide their own small tools.

Compensation and Benefits

- $19.57 - $22.66/hour (based on experience)

- Allowances for phone, uniform, tools and education.

- Tax, EI, and CPP deductions apply.

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma,
  • College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,
Skills & Professional Training
  • Driver's License - G2
  • Driver's License - G
  • Primary access to a vehicle
