Job Description
The Horticulture Technician Associate is responsible for helping to oversee the Greenhouse/Annuals/Seasonal operations ensuring orders are accurately received from suppliers. Setting up displays, merchandising and pricing of products. In addition, you will provide a high level of service by greeting customers, answering queries; providing information and product knowledge on greenhouse products, annuals and seasonal plants.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Greet customers and answer queries.
· Provide information on products and services to customers.
· Price, merchandise and create displays for products.
· Liaise with other departments as required.
· Participate and ensure Health and Safety compliance.
· Ensure that department and products are maintained; dead-heading, watering, re-potting, etc.
· Receive shipments of annuals and vegetables.
· Maintain, clean, merchandise and ensure signage is up to date.
· Create a positive shopping experience for customers.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma,
- College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate,
· Certified Horticulture Technician or enrollment in a Horticulture Technician program required.
· 1-2 year of garden centre, horticulture, landscape retail experiences recommended.
· Good organization skills. Able to manage time effectively.
· Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages an asset.
· Positive and friendly attitude. Works well in a team environment.
· Good numeracy, organization and multitasking skills. Able to manage time effectively in a fast -paced environment.
· Flexible availability. Days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
· Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend and twist. Required to work outdoors, safety boots required.
