Sipkens Nurseries is a family owned and operated Greenhouse and Garden Centre located in the Sarnia Lambton community since 1989. As one of the fastest growing Garden Centres in the area, we are noted for providing exceptional quality, customer service and knowledge.

Our company has an opening for a full time, experienced LANDSCAPE LABOURER

The Landscape Labourer will be responsible for planting, installing and maintaining customer gardens and lawns through the use of various tools and machinery with a priority on customer service, efficiency and safety. This career minded person should possess a strong work ethic, be able to work in a team environment, be detail oriented and possess leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

Install rock gardens, ponds, patios, drainage systems, irrigation systems, retaining walls, fences, water features, lighting and planters
Spread top soil; lay sod; plant flowers, grasses, shrubs and trees
Perform fall and spring clean-up; weed gardens, prune shrubs and trees; and execute other maintenance duties as directed by supervisor/manager
Edge around flower beds, walkways, and walls
Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes
Decorate gardens with stones and pavers
Ensure job sites are cleaned of all debris and materials before leaving the client’s property
Follow all health & safety regulations
Converse with customers in regards to their questions, concerns, or complaints in a courteous and helpful manner

Requirements:

Knowledge of landscape and construction techniques, practices and terminology an asset
1+ years relevant work experience preferred but will train the right candidate
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Valid driver's licence and clean abstract
Ability to take instruction and work in a team

Working Conditions:

Fast-paced environment

Handling heavy loads

Physically demanding; Bending, crouching, kneeling
